Cuban Cigars are still illegal in the United States, but not Cuban Cigar Makers. One Southwestern Connecticut Cigar Store is taking advantage of that distinction, much to the delight of its customers. And guess who found it: News 12 Connecticut's, David Springer, rolls his own.

Alright, we're back in business here guys. Almost every Thusday night at the Cigar Factory Outlet in Norwalk, you can find a group of guys playing poker and enjoying the smoked filled aroma packed pleasure of a fine cigar. You come here, you light up a cigar, and you put the day behind you and totally relax.

For some, that relaxation began hours earlier thanks to the careful eye and skilled hands of this man. I am working this 40 years, 45 years 46. Alberto Hernandez is the Cigar Factory Outlet's go-to-guy, if you like fresh hand rolled cigars. O.K., Hernandez doesn't speak much English but his customers speak volumes. It's a labor of love. You know where the tobacco came from. It's Oliva tobacco. He's rolled it for you, you know, less than a week ago and you can feel everything. It's a pretty cool thing.

According to the owners, no other cigar store in southwestern Connecticut has its own cigar roller. That in itself, would be enough to attract the attention of many cigar smokers. But Hernandez; well let's just say he's done this before. He worked in the Partigas factory in Cuba for 45 years.

Several months ago, the store placed an ad in a Spanish Newspaper in New York City, never dreaming they'd find somebody with so much experience. And it's unique that we have an individual who came from Cuba. From day one, it was an instant success. A success the owners hope will continue to prove just as popular, good pull, as their Thursday night poker games.

My customers love it. You like the cigars that he's rolling? I'll kill him if he says anything else.
